CodeRED

Sign up for CodeRED Opens in new windowCodeRED is an emergency notification service by which public safety can notify residents and businesses by telephone, cellular phone, text messages, and emails about emergency situations. The system is capable of sending messages only to specific neighborhoods or the entire community. The system is geographical-based and allows the City to alert citizens based on their location and telephone numbers. A pre-recorded message tells a live person or an answering machine about the specific situation and if any action is necessary.

Add CodeRED's Numbers to Your Phone

It is also recommended to add CodeRED's two phone numbers 866-419-5000 and 855-969-4636 to your cell phone and/or landline contacts as "CodeRED Emergency Alerts." This way, when you receive a phone call from either of CodeRED's phone numbers during an emergency event, you will be able to recognize the call as a CodeRED alert rather than easily mistaking the 1-866 or 1-855 number as a telemarketer.

When You Get a CodeRED Call

You will see the phone number 866-419-5000 or 855-969-4636 appear on your caller ID. If you receive a CodeRED message comply with the following:

  • Call 211 if you need additional information
  • Call the number back if you want to hear the message again
  • Do not call 911
  • Don't hang up until the message is complete
  • Follow Instructions
  • Listen Carefully

When the CodeRED System Is Used

The system will be used when an emergency situation arises affecting the citizens of Lampasas and Lampasas County. Examples include but not limited to:

  • Chemical spill or hazardous waste problem
  • Evacuation notice
  • Flooding in a specific area
  • Gas leak
  • Boiled water notices
  • A Silver/Amber Alert in Abilene
  • Severe Storms

You will only receive a message if you are in the area impacted or it is a city-wide or county-wide notification.
